Facade inspection
Does your building have at least one façade with 5 or more above-ground floors?
It is your responsibility to have the façades inspected every 5 years.
Since March 2013, Law 122, which aims to improve building safety, has been in force. You must therefore obtain a report indicating that the facades and the building are in good condition. You must also maintain the building to prevent elements from detaching from the facades, such as bricks or concrete slabs, and to ensure the safety of the occupants.
The steps of a facade inspection
- Meeting with the building owner or manager,
- Review of documents – construction plans, work reports, Quebec Building Authority (RBQ) records, and any other relevant documentation,
- Various visual inspections using the following techniques:
- Drones
- Telephoto lenses and binoculars
- Aerial lifts
- Suspended platforms
- Detailed inspections including:
- Material sampling
- Interior and/or exterior wall openings
- Technical drawings
- Report production based on your needs:
- Standard report with plan presentation
- Orthomosaic images
- Web portal and access to your virtual 3D building
- Analysis and interpretation of observations,
- Report production and recommendations,
- Submission to the RBQ registry.
